Nachzahlung

Nachzahlung has two directions: at the Finanzamt it usually means you owe additional tax, while a benefits office may pay you a back payment for past months. If you owe tax, the letter names the due date — typically 1 month after the assessment — and late payment triggers surcharges. If you cannot pay, request Stundung or Ratenzahlung before the deadline.

What it means

Nachzahlung has two directions: at the Finanzamt it usually means you owe additional tax, while a benefits office may pay you a back payment for past months. If you owe tax, the letter names the due date — typically 1 month after the assessment — and late payment triggers surcharges. If you cannot pay, request Stundung or Ratenzahlung before the deadline.

As it appears in letters
