What it means

If you missed a deadline through no fault of your own — for example because you were in hospital — you can ask to be treated as if you had met it. Apply in writing, usually within two weeks after the obstacle ends, explain the reason with proof, and catch up on the missed action (e.g. the Widerspruch itself) at the same time.
