What it means
An official summons to appear at a specific date and time, usually in court. Attendance is generally mandatory — not showing up can mean fines, a default judgment, or for witnesses in criminal cases even being brought in by police. If you cannot attend, inform the court immediately in writing and ask to reschedule.
