Zwangsgeld

A penalty payment used to force you to do (or stop doing) something an authority has ordered — it is not punishment for the past but pressure for the future. Paying does not free you from the obligation, and the Zwangsgeld can be repeated and increased until you comply. React to the underlying order, or challenge it, before the threatened amount becomes due.

What it means

A penalty payment used to force you to do (or stop doing) something an authority has ordered — it is not punishment for the past but pressure for the future. Paying does not free you from the obligation, and the Zwangsgeld can be repeated and increased until you comply. React to the underlying order, or challenge it, before the threatened amount becomes due.

As it appears in letters
